Magnet Glaze is a simple method of fitting plastic secondary glazing sheets to a window. It is a 2 part self-adhesive strip, one part adheres to the plastic sheeting (be it acrylic or clear polystyrene, perspex etc.) and the other part adheres to the outer window frame (it is not intended to be fitted to the opening part). This provides a seal (providing the frame is flat), and an unobtrusive fixing method that allows removal of the sheet at anytime for cleaning, ventilation etc.
This system is advised for 2mm or 3mm thickness plastic sheets, and is not suitable for glass due to the weight being in excess of the magnetic holding power.
It is only suitable for internal use.
Pack contains 5m of self adhesive magnetic strip & 5m of self adhesive white receiver strip
Notes and Fitting Guide:
When using Magnetglaze make sure there is at least 19mm of flat mounting surface around each side of the window glass.
Begin by cutting and thicking the black magnetic strip to the edge of the glazing panel. Now hold the panel to the window frame so that it overlaps equally on each edge. Draw a pencil line round the sheet on the frame. Cut and fit the white metal strip to the window frame, sticking it just inside the pencil marks. Offer up the glazing panel to the window and "CLICK" - a perfect fit!
For larger windows (1200mm x 1200mm or larger) we strongly recommend using a pack of clips, and screws for extra support. Alternatively you can put a couple of screws, with the heads protruding 10mm or so, into the window frame directly under the glazing panel. This will prevent the sheet from slipping down and becoming detached.
